A Music Video

This past week at work, I said to my co-worker/friend Dan that we should make a music video. I expected it would happen somewhere down the road, but later on that day, he asked me if I was free this weekend to shoot one. So, yesterday, Dan and his friend Andrew drove me to this area in Ellicott City that used to be the grounds for a girls' school or something. Oddly enough, my friend found the location through a horror video on YouTube that was filmed there.

We didn't really go that route, of course, but the location worked out really well for the theme(s) of the song. I was hoping to do a video for a song off of Mellow At the Battersea, but the guys thought an acoustic track would work a lot better since I would be the only one on camera. Dan recommended we go with "Test of Interest". I was kind of reluctant -- considering it's just a demo -- but I think it worked out really well.

We shot for about 2 1/2 to 3 hours, and walked all around the former grounds of the school. We filmed on the a pile of rubble with tons of butterflies flying around; we filmed on this immense staircase; and we filmed on this long pathway buried in the forest. We did a bit of filming on the train tracks, as well, as you can see above. Maybe it's a played out idea, but we got some footage of me walking down them. I think it'll work out well. It was sort of tricky because the tracks are suspended off the ground, and there is at least one sequence where I am looking at the camera and singing while walking over the open tracks.

Not sure when it'll be done or available, but I'll be sure to let you know.
